Are you so busy you’re not sure if you are coming or going? Or are you like so many other people that are so schedule oriented that you don’t have any room for God to bless your day. One day as I was ordering some coffee at the shop down the street, I felt God speak to my heart. It was at the moment when I said, “leave room for cream” that as an electrical shock going through me, the realization of God’s heart struck me. His will is for us to leave room for God’s goodness in our day.
Like most coffee drinkers I want my coffee just the way I like it. I don’t want burnt coffee, plain coffee or some kind of coffee drink decorated with whip cream. I like my coffee with some creamer in it; therefore, I ask the server to leave room so I can add the good flavored cream to blend it just the way I enjoy it.
It’s the same in our daily lives; we must leave room for God to bless our day with His goodness.

Yet, in the busy society that we live in we so often get caught up rushing here and there all day long. We jump out of bed and rush to work, so we can finish and then rush to the kid’s soccer game, all to close our day exhausted and miserable. We are so occupied that we have bypassed the most important thing; we forgo our personal devotional time with the Lord. We have allowed things to squeeze out any opportunity for God’s cream in our lives.
Jesus addressed our busyness in Luke 10:41-42 where He says, “Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part”. While Martha was getting frustrated rushing around Mary was spending time with the Master. Jesus reveals that what Mary is actually doing is the one thing that is needed. She isn’t getting caught up with the fast pace of society, but is listening to eternal truths from the Lord. She is making room for God’s goodness in her life.
David as he penned his worship to the Lord writes in Ps 23:5-6, “My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me …” It is said of David that he was a man after God’s own heart. He loved to spend time in the presence of the Lord. He knew that God was his source and therefore David left room for God to pour His cream or goodness into his life. Many years before we see Moses with young Joshua spending time in the tabernacle before God’s presence.

When Moses had to leave to get back to the schedule of his day it says that Joshua stayed. The young future leader knew that by leaving room for God it would bring the blessings and sweetness of God in his life.
Whether you enjoy cream in your coffee or not, even if you are not a coffee drinker one thing is for sure. We all desire to have God impart His blessings and sweetness in our daily lives. But as Martha we get caught up in the daily routine and never leave room for God to sweeten our day with His love. He loves us! Let me encourage you to stop your rat race and realize it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.(Luke 12:32-34) So please, “Leave room for cream”!
